Gio Scelzi 13th with World of Outlaws at I-80 Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the helm of the KCP Racing entry on Sunday night at I-80 Speedway with the World of Outlaws, Gio Scelzi would record a 13th place finish.
“We qualified really well, but after that I just made too many mistakes and it cost us in both our heat and feature,” Gio Scelzi said.
After a couple weeks out of the sprint car with other commitments, Scelzi and KCP Racing returned to action on Sunday night in Greenwood, NE where the Fresno, CA driver timed in ninth fastest aboard the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed entry.
A tough start in his heat race saw the youngster slip back and end up finishing fourth which would put him 13th on the starting grid.
When the race came to life, Scelzi would quickly pick up a couple of positions as he battled for a Top-10 position. After a couple of laps, Scelzi admittedly made a couple of mistakes that cost himself track position.
Battling with the likes of Daryn Pittman and Parker Price Miller, Scelzi would fall back to his starting position of 13th, and was unable to get going during the back half of the race.
When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, Scelzi capped his night off with a 13th place finish.
“I just made too many mistakes in the feature, and we couldn’t get going,” Scelzi said. “Looking forward to getting a couple of nights in the car this weekend and hopefully getting into a nice rhythm.”
