Ian Madsen 5th at Beaver Dam
PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing the year of the rainout, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing were able to sneak one race in over the weekend and it went well for the team as Madsen scored a fifth place finish on Saturday night at Beaver Dam Raceway.
“If I can draw a little better for the Dash redraw it is probably that much better of a night,” Ian Madsen said. “The guys gave me a great car, and it was a good night for our race team.”
Timing the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 entry in third fastest in qualifying time trials, the Australian native would power his way to a heat race win and take a spot in the DirtVision Fast Pass Dash.
The blemish on Madsen’s night was drawing the six pill, but he would rebound well as he got by a couple of guys to pick up a fourth place finish, putting him in the second row of the feature event.
On a slick surface, Madsen would search around speedway as he battled the likes of Daryn Pittman, Shane Stewart, and David Gravel. Continuing to run well in fifth traffic would get dicey at times, but Madsen would do a great job of hitting his marks and keeping the KCP Racing entry inside the Top-5.
With rubber going down late in the 40-lapper, Madsen would make sure to find it as he rode it out and captured his sixth Top-Five of the season as the schedule ramps up in the Summer months.
“As long as Mother Nature allows, we really start getting busy now so it’s a good time to start ripping off good finishes,” Madsen added. “Thanks to my guys for all of their hard work.”
