Ian Madsen and KCP Racing Sixth at Beaver Dam
PETERSEN MEDIA- With rain shortening a scheduled two race-weekend to just a Saturday night showdown in Beaver Dam, WI, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team put together another strong run with the World of Outlaws that saw them finish sixth.
“For a result it was good for our team, but as a sport it was a pretty tough night,” Ian Madsen said. “There is nothing words can really say, and there’s nothing I can say that hasn’t been said already, but we will miss Jason Johnson deeply. We are all a racing family and it hurts to lose a family member.”
Madsen and company would get things started by timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed No. 18 machine in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW native would fend off some challengers to pick up the win and punch his ticket into the Sears Craftsman Dash where is sixth place finish put him in the third row to start the feature event.
When the feature rolled off, Madsen would stay comfortably inside the Top-10 as he raced with the likes of Donny Schatz, Sheldon Haudenschild, and Cory Eliason.
On a racy surface, Madsen would continue to run well as he chased after his 12th Top-10 finish with the World of Outlaws in 2018. Able to turn in a strong performance, Madsen would cap Saturday night’s event with a sixth place finish.
“It’s been a tough few days,” Ian Madsen said. “We all love this sport and we will certainly be thinking of the Johnson family as we continue the season. Hopefully getting back to work helps lift everyone’s spirits a little.”
