Ian Madsen Pleased With KCP Racing's Showing in North Dakota
PETERSEN MEDIA- Though their results were not spectacular, Ian Madsen was quick to point out that the KCP Racing team had a better weekend than what shows on paper.
“The results really don’t show it, but it was a good weekend in North Dakota with the World of Outlaws,” Ian Madsen said. “We always look for better results, but in the big picture it was a pretty good weekend.”
The three-race weekend kicked off on Friday night as the KCP Racing team followed the World of Outlaws in Grand Forks, ND for a night of racing at River Cities Speedway. Timing the Logan Contractors Supply, Inc./Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring, seventh quickest in his qualifying flight.
Starting and finishing fourth in his heat, the St. Marys, NSW driver transferred into the 40-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the 14th starting position. In a back and forth, action packed 40-lap feature event, Madsen was able to work his way forward a couple of positions as he took the checkered flag 12th to close out the first night of action.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Fargo, ND as the team followed the World of Outlaws to Red River Valley Speedway. Timing in seventh fastest during qualifications, Madsen would finish fifth in his heat race and again move safely into the 30-lap feature event.
Starting 13th, Madsen would soon find himself battling hard with the likes of Tim Kaeding and David Gravel for position. Having one of those nights where it was difficult to move forward, Madsen would end up being credited with a 15th place finish on this night.
The three-race stint came to a close on Sunday night in Minot, ND at NoDak Speedway. Saving his best for last, Madsen would open the night by timing in sixth fastest in time trials, and finishing third in his heat race.
Starting ninth in the feature event, the current Knoxville Raceway point leader battled with Logan Schuchart and Brent Marks for position inside the Top-10. Able to stay inside the Top-10, Madsen would close out the weekend with his best finish as he ran 9th.
“It was good to have our best night of the weekend as our last night,” Madsen said. “That helps us get back on track for the last race of the year at Knoxville on Saturday night. We are hoping for a good night with some sponsors and friends in the house.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
