Ian Madsen Back in Victory Lane at Knoxville Raceway
PETERSEN MEDIA- Ian Madsen and the KCP Racing team continue to be in the mix nightly at Knoxville Raceway. With the calendar now pinned on July, it is a great time to be running well at the famous half mile as the Nationals inch closer.
“It is awesome to get back into victory lane at Knoxville Raceway,” Ian Madsen said. “The KCP Racing No. 18 machine has been really good here all year and we are working hard to stay up front here all summer.”
Saturday night Madsen opened the night up by timing the No. 18 machine in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining the Logan Contractors Supply/Aspen Aire/Royal Flooring backed entry up in the third row of his heat race, Madsen would pick up a couple of positions in the eight-lap contest as a fourth place finish put him on the front row of the feature event.
Lining up on the front row of the 20-lapper alongside Justin Henderson, Madsen would grab the lead as the field exited turn two in front of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.
Being slowed on the second lap to a caution, Madsen would continue to lead the way as the field was shown the green flag. Getting into traffic by the eighth lap, Madsen would feel pressure from older brother Kerry. Getting held up a bit on the 14th lap, Madsen would briefly fall back to second in turn one on lap 15, before surging back to the top spot on the exit of turn two.
Surviving the challenge, Madsen would lead the rest of the way as he went on to pick up his third 410 win of the season at the Marion County Fairgrounds facility.
Friday night in Jackson, MN, Madsen and company had an okay night that ultimately saw the team record a seventh place finish. Timing in fifth fastest in time trials, Madsen would run fourth in his heat race and line up in the third row for the feature event.
Not able to move forward much in the fast paced ‘A’ main, Madsen would settle for seventh at the stripe.
A busy week of racing got underway on Tuesday night as the KCP Racing team traveled to Joliet, IL to take on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Timing in 18th quickest in time trials, Madsen would advance from sixth to finish fifth in his heat race and line up in the eighth row for the feature event.
Moving forward in the 30-lap affair, Madsen would work his way to the 12th spot when the checkered flag waived.
“Its great to get out and race multiple times during the week,” Ian Madsen added. “I have to thank my guys for everything they continue to do for myself and this team.”
Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, Team Kline Electric, Greenland Homes, Team Excavating, TammyHeckart.com, Finer Cuts Lawn and Landscape, Des Moines Area Roofing, Quality Traffic Control, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Monarch’s, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
