PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking in two nights of National Sprint League action over the weekend, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team would run second on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, before a third place finish on Sunday night in Mason City, IA.

“It is hard to complain about a pair of runner up finishes, but we certainly would have liked to have been one spot better both nights,” Ian Madsen noted. “My guys have this No. 18 machine going really good right now and we are pleased to be up front on a nightly basis.”

Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Madsen would time his Logan Contractors/Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials before he picking up a third place finish in his heat race.

Advancing to the feature event, Madsen would line the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.Com backed entry up on the front row for the feature event.

Jumping out to the early lead, Madsen would have Brooke Tatnell shadow him for the first few laps, before a fellow foe chased after him as the race neared the halfway point. Finding himself in a battle with older brother, Kerry, Madsen would fall to the second spot on the ninth lap as he now played hunter.

Chasing after the elder Madsen for the race’s final 11 laps, Madsen would hold on to finish in the second spot.

Traveling to the Mason City Motor Speedway on Sunday night, Madsen would again time his Caliber Iowa/QTC/Flatrate, Inc. machine in seventh fastest before picking up a win during his heat race.

Finding himself on the pole for the 20-lap feature event, Madsen would jump out to the early lead as he would set a nice pace out front as Danny Lasoski worked from his second row starting position to move into the runner up position.

Fending off Lasoski’s advances, Madsen would lose the top spot on the 11th lap, as it turned into a three car battle with Sammy Swindell also entering the equation. As the trio battled for the race’s final nine laps, Madsen would end his weekend with a third place finish.

“It was a little disappointing to lead both nights and come up short,” Madsen added. “We have a great team, but we are certainly battling some other great teams night in and night out, so we will see what we can do to get a little bit better and hopefully come out on top of these close races.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
