PETERSEN MEDIA- Going double duty on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team had another strong night that saw Madsen finish third in the 360ci race before a sixth place effort in the 410ci race.

“It was another good night for our team,” Madsen said. “We led some laps in the 360ci race and we had what I thought was a decent run in the 410ci feature. We have a couple of big races this week so hopefully we can be even better.”

Timing the Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine in third quickest during the 360ci program, the St Marys, NSW driver would advance from the sixth starting spot of his heat race to finish in the third position.

Lining up in the second row of the 18-lap feature event, Madsen would have a great start that saw him jump into the lead as the field raced into turns one and two. A plethora of caution flags would plague the race, but Madsen remained strong out front as he continued to lead the way as the race drew to a close.

On the 11th lap, Jamie Ball would get a run on Madsen which dropped him back to the second spot, and on the 15th lap Justin Henderson would use the low side of the speedway to put Madsen back in the third spot where he would go on to finish.

In 410ci action, Madsen would also time the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.com machine in third quickest during time trials before finishing sixth in his heat race.

Gridding the field from the third row for the 20-lap feature event Madsen would settle into the fifth spot until finding some day light under Danny Lasoski to overtake the fourth spot.

In the waning laps, Craig Dollansky would sneak by Madsen to put him back in the fifth spot, and a charging Tim Kaeding would drop Madsen back to sixth a lap later.  With Doug Clark’s checkered flag in the air, Madsen would close his night out with a sixth place finish.

“We were really good in both cars, but we gave up spots late in both feature events,’ Madsen added. “If we can make sure we are good at the end of races I think we will be really good moving into the Summer months.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
